Hey guys, we were at Baybeats and it was an awesome experience. Kudos to all the bands that played - it was certainly a landmark event for Singapore music. We also took the opportunity to give out some Pensionstate merch as we were walking around.
Now that Singapore is in the mood for more rock (with Straits Times School of Rock competition all over the news), we're looking forward to the Sonic Fest. The schedule is out and we're due on the Give Stage on the 30th July (Saturday) between 12-3 p.m.
We've been practising hard in the jam studio, as well as at meetings at home working out our parts and getting to know what each other is actually playing (!). In the meantime, Ahtan got a new black van, dubbed the Pensionstate-mobile...at least until we can think of a better name.|||112199805984086486|||Baybeats rocked!7/29/2005 3:21 AM||| Nura|||I WANT PENSIONSTATE'S MERCH! i was at baybeats too. and the crowd's huge so it was impossible to have noticed you guys. but i SO want the merch! daaaaamn.7/10/2005 06:37:00 AM|||ted|||
Hey guys, first things first:
Pensionstate will be rocking this year's Sonic Festival at Fort Canning. It's gonna be a massive 3-day event from the 28th to 30th of July. More info here. We're honoured to be able to play with CCM greats such as Planetshakers and Sonicflood, as well as friends such as Vertical Rush, Surreal, Gloria and Sky in Euphoria (and many more). We'll be playing on the 30th, but be there for all 3 days cos' it's more worth it that way.
As some of you may have heard, our drummer Dex has decided to leave the band and pursue his individual interests. His departure saddens us, but we respect Dex's decision and wish him all the best as he moves on in life. The remaining members of Pensionstate will carry on with exciting plans for the future. I'll keep you posted for those plans, but let's just say it includes a new website and a new 'community project'.
In the jamroom, it's been great working with Kai, our latest addition. He has some great ideas, and his heart for music is awe-inspiring. We are also blessed to have Iain drumming with us for this Sonicfest gig. Iain's a young but fantastically talented multi-instrumentalist. You will also catch him playing keyboards for Gloria at the Sonicfest.
I saw a dude wearing our tee at Orchard a few nights ago. I don't know who you are bro, but it's people like you that keep us going, so if you are reading this, thanks for the much-needed support.
On a final note, Baybeats 2005 is almost upon us this coming weekend (we're waiting with baited breath for Copeland). Somehow our picture has landed in this week's Juice magazine regarding a Baybeats article - I haven't found a copy yet but it'll be a keeper in my 'media' collection. Either way, we'll all be walking around the Esplanade watching bands friday-sunday. If you see us, don't forget to say hi.|||112100385222646668|||Pensionstate @ SONICFEST 20057/28/2005 5:57 PM||| brian koh|||haha.. dudes, i think your pictures on the baybeats trailer was one of the most eye-grabbing. but yeah, you guys are helluva jumpers! wahaha
